The air in LA has been... different lately. More fog. More wind. Rain that arrived too early. It’s like the weather finally stopped pretending to be chill and stepped into her Dark Mysterious Woman era—and honestly, I’m here for it.

Nights are cooler. My blankets are thicker these days. I’m back in my silk pajamas with hot tea in hand, surrounded by too many pillows and unapologetically loving every second of it. If a season could be a comfort food, autumn would be it. I’m talking root vegetables, fruit tarts, casseroles, soups—yes to all of it.

And somewhere between the fog and the firelight, the veil starts to thin. Welcome to Samhain.

Samhain, Reframed: More Than Shadow Work

There’s something magnetic about this season. It gives people permission to be darker, sexier, spookier, and more curious about the things we normally keep hidden. People watch horror movies like they’re comfort shows. Spirituality gets a mainstream moment. Even the skeptics pull a card or light a candle.

Samhain doesn’t just thin the veil between worlds—it lowers inhibitions too.

But here's what I think we get wrong: not everything has to be deep. You’re not required to do shadow work just because it’s October. You don’t have to mourn, cry, or crack yourself open unless you want to. Samhain can be a celebration. A sensual moment. A connection to something unseen—but still beautiful.

Samhain as a Luxury Mindset

Let me be real: the sexiest energy of the year is Scorpio season. And nothing screams luxury like owning who you are without apology.

I recently watched a woman teach others how to use their “pretty privilege” for personal gain. It was controversial. It was taboo. And it was fascinating—because what she was really teaching was confidence. To carry yourself with grace. To speak with conviction. To invest in what makes you feel powerful.

And that’s the vibe:

Be the taboo.
Be the woman they whisper about.
Be confident—even if it makes people uncomfortable.

Witchcraft is taboo. Confidence is taboo. Beauty is taboo. So go ahead—be too much. Samhain would want you to and as a Scorpio myself, I can honestly say, Scorpio season supports this also.

The Seasonal Spark: Light the Candles, Literally

This one’s simple and sacred. Light a taper candle for each ancestor you want to remember—or for each ending in your life this year. Jobs, relationships, habits, fears. Let them go with fire. Let them be honored with flame. It’s subtle, meaningful, and stunning on your altar or windowsill or just cozy because dammit, its fall.

Samhain Mood Board Must-Haves

  • Deep burgundy tones (wine, pomegranates, lips)

  • Velvet textures and claw-like nails

  • A hauntingly beautiful piece of artwork

  • Long walks in the fog, coat collar pulled high

  • A single taper candle burning past midnight

This isn’t cottagecore cozy—it’s glamorous decay.

Cards for Samhain:

All Hallow’s Eve & The Devil

All Hallow’s Eve — from Seasons of the Witch: Samhain Oracle
This is the Samhain card for me. Wind in the hair, fog in the air, and magic that comes from within. It’s about summoning your inner power, not waiting for it to be granted. Moody, feminine, mystical—it’s the card I return to every year.

The Devil — RWS Tarot
Taboo. Desire. Power. Control. This card isn’t the villain—it’s the invitation. To explore what’s seductive, what’s hidden, and what becomes sacred once you claim it. That’s Samhain energy in a nutshell.

What Comes Next

Whether you’re calling in ancestors or just calling back parts of yourself, Samhain is the season of the unseen—and the unapologetically felt.
