Have you felt the push lately? The not so soft encouragement to ask yourself what it is you really want out of life. I have felt it intensely all year but especially in these last days of summer. Since Lammas if I’m honest. That judgement call to awaken to a new calling or a new expression of an old one. This week’s cards carry that same invitation. They’re inviting you to expand yourself into new hobbies, new ways to nourish and welcoming new forms of play.
But this is different from let’s say 5-10 years ago. For so long, it seemed everywhere you looked, someone was encouraging you to start a business or turn your hobby into a side hustle or just to monetize every facet of your existence. This call is not that. A hobby doesn’t need to become an income source. Play doesn’t need to be justified with productivity. These cards are asking you to find pleasure in things that are just for you. To paint not because you’re naturally talented or need to make an extra $200 a month. But to paint because it makes you feel something good. To cook because you enjoy homemade foods. To read because stories give you hope or to learn Japanese, not because you’re going to Japan but because you love the sound of the language.
Perhaps the main goal is to understand what it means to enjoy life and not just what it means to be successful. For me, its understanding I may never have a mainstream brand because I like witchy shit too much and I’m not willing to sacrifice it to be more palatable to the mass culture. For you, it might be accepting that you don’t want to be a business owner because you want your weekends and evenings. For someone else, it might be figuring out your days of wearing heels and tight clothes are over and you’re embracing a new way of life. The point is to stop fighting what your soul is yearning for and to start embracing the season of life you’re in.

This is your summons to reconnect with the innocent part of you that loves things just because your soul feels a resonance. Consider picking up a new hobby this month. It doesn’t have to be something grand and you don’t need to run out and buy new supplies. This is something to take your time with. Perhaps you watch ceramic videos on Youtube all this month or start a secret instagram account to pursue your passion of making doll clothes. Maybe you drop into a workshop on knitting or watch a documentary on what it takes to be a sommelier. There’s no need to “commit” to anything right now. Be gentle with yourself and follow the breadcrumb however far it leads. You may lose interest tomorrow and that’s ok. This isn’t about sticking to the course, it's about doing as deer does and learning to listen and react to whatever feeling or desire is right in front of you.

TODAY is the day to take action. Now it's time to push forward with your plans or opinions. Today is the day to speak up, ask for what you want, or take a big risk. You can only imagine things for so long. You can only make so many lists or do so much research. At some point, you have to do something with all of your preparation. Otherwise, you’re preparing for absolutely nothing which means a big fat waste of time. Doing something in theory is great but you’ll never fully understand anything until you have the experience of actually doing it. So go ahead, make the call, send the email, enroll in the class, ask them out, ask for a raise. Do whatever you have to do to get some forward movement.

Have some fun today and do it without a plan, spreadsheet or any idea of what you’re going to do. Sometimes you just need to go with the flow and let it take you somewhere unexpected. The modern world spends too much time trying to optimize. Every hour of the day doesn’t need to be productive. You don’t need to have a reason to want to do something other than you’re interested in doing it. And while you’re at it, stop worrying about if it makes you look silly or immature. It doesn’t matter. We all need space to take a deep breath and to enjoy life. Because frankly, we don’t know what comes next. We choose to believe the afterlife will be this amazing place or perhaps we’ll be reincarnated but if we’re being honest, we have no idea what happens after life is over. So on the chance that there’s nothing after death, doesn’t it make more sense to enjoy this life we can physically see right now?

You may have spent too much time relying on the convenient option but is the easy, safe or comfortable way really supporting your growth? You need something more unique and more in-depth. It will require more work than you’re used to but it will also give you more results than you’ve had. Additionally, this card means a need to start relying on yourself instead of waiting for someone else to step in or to take over the hard tasks. You are capable, much more than you give yourself credit for. You don’t need a partner or someone to hold your hand. You just have to believe in yourself.

Your soul is asking you to be better prepared for when things don’t work out the way you hoped. It's fine to have expectations but not to assume your desired outcome is the only way things can work out. I find most people believe the phrase “working in my favor” means getting exactly what you want. When really, it means you’re getting what you need in a way that makes sense for the universe. And sometimes that means things aren’t going to play out the way you want it too, or things won’t be as easy as you would like them to be, or you’re required to go through steps you weren’t expecting to take. This card is your soul’s way of saying, be prepared to change directions, pitch your idea to whoever will listen, or trust that a dead end just means try a different way. Surrendering isn’t about trusting your vision will come to life, it's about letting spirit show you what you actually need and listening to the signs when they drop into your lap.

It may feel closed off at the moment, with the idea that you aren’t valuable enough or that you don’t bring enough to the table. Or perhaps you’re afraid you bring too much in the form of baggage when neither are true. You are worthy and valuable just as you are but you have to see that for yourself before anyone else can. This card appears as a reminder to love yourself first. It may seem like you’re unlovable because that’s how you’ve been viewing yourself. Or may feel like your lack of connection means there’s something wrong with you when the only thing that’s wrong is that you don’t value yourself enough. And if you’re someone who loves yourself deeply already, then this card is a sign to infuse that love into everything you do. To take time to care for all of your needs be it internal or external.

This is a big card of what if. It's your permission to daydream and think about all things possible for you. However, let’s understand the difference between possible and probable. All things are possible, even if they’re improbable. It’s absolutely possible for you to become a millionaire. Is it probable? No but it wasn’t probable for all of those self-made millionaires who defeated the odds either. Stop focusing on the likelihood of something happening and instead, turn your focus to figuring out what YOU can do to make it happen. That starts with allowing yourself to dream bigger. To start envisioning what it would be like for you to have the things you want. Now I’m not saying if you visualize it will happen. I’m not here to tell you that a vision board is all it takes to bring your dreams to life. You’ll have to work for this. You’ll have to sacrifice for it too. So I won’t tell you that a spell will call this into existence for you but I will remind you that you are capable. Somewhere inside of you is someone who can make your dreams happen. And the first step to being that person is believing in yourself.
