Daily Oracle Pulls: February 2 -8

And welcome to the first full week of February. We’ve just passed Imbolc which means, we are in late winter. Spring is coming faster now. You’ll soon see signs of spring all around you as if they appeared out of the blue overnight. But not just yet. You might be feeling restless and tired of feeling the snow and the cold. No one could blame you. But this is the season you’re in (at least for those of us in the North) and you still need to slow down and embrace where you are.
It's no surprise then that all of these cards point to self-care in one way or another. They’re asking you to protect your energy, to reflect, and to think about what really matters in life. Yes work is important, money too. Obviously we all have bills to pay and a roof to keep over our heads. I listened to an interview today from someone who lost their home in the fires in Los Angeles last year and he said when you lose everything, you realize what’s important. He went on to saying how important it was that his kids are ok and that his parents have support. Nothing of what he said had to do with material possessions.
And I think of my therapist who lost everything in a flood a couple of years ago. In that experience, they learned how little they actually needed to be happy and now travel the world full time with just a few bags worth of possessions. She told me they’re “chasing the sun” and that’s all they need right now. I believe that’s what these cards are asking of you this week. To chase your version of the sun. To follow what’s important for you more than you worship productivity or material measures of success.
Money will come and go and come again but you only get one you. And the same is true for your loved ones. There won’t be a replacement so make the most of the time you have.

→ Snowflakes
Snowflakes are a warning that things can change right before your eyes. You may think you have time or that you can get back to something later but you never really know how much time you have. It's a somber thought that you may not get another chance to call someone and tell them you love them or to experience something before it's gone. Life is at once very long and all too short. So today, think about what you’ve put on the backburner for too long. What’s the first thing that comes to mind? Make it a point to do something about it today. Even just a small step, a tiny effort can mean the difference between missing out and enjoying something while you still have an opportunity to do so.

You are being asked to proceed with caution today. It’s important to pause before agreeing to anything. Take a moment to consider someone’s intentions before providing them safe passage into your life. Someone may not have the best of intentions for you today and requires you to be watchful for manipulation and deceit. Pay attention to what you’re feeling today. It's fine to engage with people but that doesn’t mean you have to share your life story. Indeed, you don't have to share anything at all if it isn’t comfortable to do so.

Truth and clarity are needed when the Incense card is pulled. Today is the day to put your cards on the table and say what you need to say. You may need to speak up for yourself or perhaps you’re the one who needs to come clean about something you’ve done. Withholding information isn’t doing you any good. Quite the opposite in fact as the more you keep hidden, the more complicated your situation becomes. And in turn, invite others to speak more freely with you. So many situations can be avoided with a conversation. It may be challenging and it may be scary but it can also be liberating and illuminating.

→ Winter Woodlands
Healing is not a straight line, in fact, it's a lot like getting lost in the woods. You will pass the same feelings many times and you will experience the same hurt many times as well. Our world will have you believe three days off of work is enough to grieve. Or that a breakup should stop hurting after a predetermined amount of time. Or the biggest bullshit of all is that “time heals all wounds.” Time may heal all physical wounds, sure, but the ones you can’t see often live with us forever. So if you are not healed, or evolved or feeling better after a challenging time then let this card be confirmation that there’s nothing wrong with you. The people who are asking “aren’t you better?” are asking because they can’t hold your pain. They aren’t comfortable dealing with things that aren’t neat or clean so they try to rush your healing along so that they can feel better. But their discomfort isn’t your problem, especially when you’re dealing with your own. Give yourself permission today to not be ok. To feel what you’re feeling without needing an explanation or an end date. This is where you are and you have every right to be here.

→Blackberries
Blackberries is a card of spiritual neglect as well as giving into a victim mentality. Often the two go hand in hand for when you are truly focused on your spiritual well-being, it's nearly impossible to feel anything else but empowered to change your situation. Envy, fear, anger, manipulation, sadness and other similar emotions can easily convince you a situation isn’t your fault or that you don’t have any power to decide what comes next. These types of emotions may convince you that anger is just your personality and there’s no more to be done or that you’re justified in hurting others because someone hurt you. Blackberries has presented itself to you to break the cycle of these limiting and possibly destructive habits and beliefs. Its presence means you’re ready to stop keeping yourself small in this way and to start reaching for the light. Examine your thoughts today, taking note of ways you give away your own power. One by one, you’ll pull out those thorns and let the healing take place.

→ Dawn
You may feel a rush to be productive or busy today but it's not time yet. You are still deep within the winter season which means rest, stillness and slowing down is still the prescription for some time yet. Sitting still is hard because it forces you to be with your thoughts and perhaps not all of them are pleasant. But that is what is needed from you now. Not so that you can beat yourself up about past failures but to learn and understand what’s needed to move forward in a healthier way than where you came from. Reflection is the closest thing to a do-over most of us will get. The chance to figure out what went wrong so that you can make different choices. The ability to embrace what went right so you can do more of that. But you can’t expect to change paths if you don't have the information to know where to turn. You’ll keep missing the right street because you’re too busy looking ahead. So slow down today. Do what is necessary and let the rest go for now.

Ultimately, this card means you have nothing to fear even if you’ve faced some challenges lately. Yes you may have to defend yourself or put in some effort but you’ll be ok and that’s the main thing. This card guides you to think of yourself as the top of the food chain. Does it mean other predators won’t come for you from time to time? No, not at all. But it means you’re stronger, smarter, faster and more prepared or, you absolutely have the capability of being that. You’ve gotten this far because of your strengths and in spite of your weaknesses. Believe in yourself and believe that something or someone has your back.
