Radiance for Litha: A Modern Guide to Feeling Lit from the Inside Out

The air is thick with heat, the citrus is cold and juicy, and my oven is basically a stage for meringues and golden key-lime syrup. Welcome to Litha, darling.

I know this season is all about the sun, but let’s be real—it’s also a time to slow way down and soak it all in. Summer gets branded as a time of movement, but here’s the truth: it’s a quiet invitation to enjoy your life. Good food. The fresh air. Late-night walks. The random Tuesdays when you toss on a dress and look like you’re on your way to a garden party in Capri.

This is slow living, yes—but summer opens the door to make it a sensual affair with your name all over it.

So… What Is Litha, Really?

I could talk about all of the stuffy, perhaps a little antiquated things Litha has been but I’d rather view it from a more modern lens. Sure, Litha is the summer solstice and the peak of solar power, but can we talk about the real flex here? It’s also Cancer season. That means we’re not just out here shining—we’re nourishing. This is the season to be lit, shining your light from the inside and out and while feeling luscious, bright and mysterious while you do your thing.

To me, Litha is all about duality. It's giving:

“I’ll shine when I want to and hide in the shadows when I need to. Either way, I’m still most radiant when I’m taking care of myself.”

This is power with softness. It’s self-care that fuels you. Not rest-for-the-sake-of-it, but intentional, embodied vitality. Think of it like plugging into the source, not pulling the cord out to take a break.

Litha says: Own what you need. Do what feels good. And don’t you dare apologize for wanting more.

Your Seasonal Spark: The Signature Summer Drink

This one’s easy, decadent and delicious. Create your signature summer cocktail or mocktail. Something that screams you—maybe it has simple syrup made with Litha-aligned herbs, or maybe it’s just lemon and fresh mint in your favorite bougie glass. No rules, just honoring whatever energy you’re feeling this Litha season.

Serve it when you host. Sip it while you journal. Order a dupe when you’re out with friends and pretend you’re in a movie sipping cocktails on the Amalfi Coast. Go ahead and be a little extra if it helps you shine your light.

The Litha Spritz

Bright. Herbaceous. Slightly smoky. A little wild. Very main character.

✦ Ingredients:

  • 1 oz mezcal (for that smoky, sun-drenched fire energy)

  • ½ oz elderflower liqueur (for sweetness and fae vibes)

  • ½ oz fresh lemon juice

  • 1 oz pineapple juice

  • Dash of orange blossom water (trust—it’s the secret luxury)

  • 2 oz sparkling water or brut Champagne

  • Garnish: orange slice, rosemary sprig, and an optional slice of serrano chili (for the bold witches)

✦ Instructions:

  1. In a shaker with ice, combine mezcal, elderflower liqueur, lemon juice, pineapple juice, and a few drops of orange blossom water.

  2. Shake gently (just enough to chill and blend).

  3. Strain into a tall wine glass filled with ice.

  4. Top with sparkling water (or Champagne if you’re in your rich girl era).

  5. Garnish with a fresh rosemary sprig and an orange wheel. Optional: float a thin serrano slice on top for a little kick.

Litha Moodboard Must-Haves

  • Fresh citrus (bonus if it’s floating in your water)

  • Bold, happy colors like turmeric, persimmon, sunflower, or turquoise

  • A pair of wildly cool sunnies (I’m eyeing those yellow-and-white striped ones…)

This is Litha luxury in motion, darling.

Your Card for Litha

Sun Salutation — from Seasons of the Witch: Litha Oracle

Look at her.

One hand to the sky, the other wrapped in a cascade of flowing hair like liquid shadow. She’s half light, half softness—standing barefoot in the wild, in her power, and still making room for the magic. The butterfly above her isn’t a symbol of transformation—it is the transformation. The becoming that comes not from trying harder, but from surrendering to the moment you're in.

She reminds us that loving yourself isn’t always about soft blankets and herbal tea. Sometimes it’s about taking the damn walk. Eating the fruit. Drinking the water. And showing up for yourself like you would for someone you adore.

This card is your reminder that vitality isn’t extra—it’s the foundation. You don’t have to earn the right to shine.

Tarot Mirror: Queen of Wands
If the Sun Salutation is your body’s prayer, the Queen of Wands is your soul’s anthem. She’s the woman who doesn’t wait for the glow-up—been there, done that and now glowing on autopilot. Confident, self-possessed, and unapologetically here to take up space. This is a hot girl summer with depth.
