→ Spider
Spider has crawled into your point of view today to hopefully prevent you from experiencing the day through force and aggression. You don’t have to push so hard. You don’t have to try so hard to make your dreams come to life. Taking action and forcing action are completely different energies. You need to take action when you’re afraid to pick up the phone, enroll in a class or share a project you’ve been working on. Things like that are pushing you out of your comfort zone so that you can grow. Force however is pulling 100 tarot cards trying to figure out your life purpose or badgering someone to agree to what you want. Spider reminds you to wait for what is meant for you instead of using all of your energy trying to force things to happen the way you want. What is meant for you can never escape so there’s no need to worry about catching it.

→ Intuition
You might assume this card is about learning to trust your inner knowing and it is, but it’s more than that. It’s also about understanding your intuition is a partner to your conscious mind—the ego—not an enemy. The two are a powerful pair, no different than the sun and the moon. They work together to bring your soul’s mission to life. The problem is that we’ve embraced the ego’s shadows while ignoring its gifts. And we glorify intuition without understanding it needs the ego to manifest the guidance it offers you. Therefore today’s message is to bring the two into balance. To listen when intuition speaks then ask the ego “How do we make intuition’s guidance work?” Because here’s a hard truth, nothing will drop in your lap. Your “purpose” doesn’t just appear, you have to work for it. You have to claim it and then do what’s required to achieve it. The universe isn’t going to do it for you. So you need the ego. You need it to be practical and resourceful and to understand your circumstances. And when you bring both parts of your being into harmony, that’s when all things truly become possible.

→ Transformation
In the SOTW Samhain guidebook, I tell you that if you’ve pulled Banshee and Transformation together, then major change is coming. Both Banshee and Transformation have shown up this month which means, change is little to hit you in some way. Something is about to shift in your life and you need to get ready for it. It won’t be easy with this combination of cards but it will be exactly what you need to get the ball rolling. You need to do something different in your life. What you’ve been doing up until now isn’t working and probably hasn’t been for a long time. Don’t fight the transformation that’s coming your way. Lean into the storm and let it blow you where you need to go. It will still be challenging but It's going to be a lot easier than trying to swim against the tide.

→ Divination
There is a need for more reflection when this card appears. The descent into the darker parts of the year is already a natural time to contemplate. To evaluate how you’ve risen, fallen, dropped the ball and in general, how your life has changed. Divination is often diminished to a party trick—a way to pretend to know what the future holds. And yes, it may offer some idea of what’s to come but its true gift is to guide, rather than predict. To understand yourself on the deepest levels so that your future becomes less a game of chance and more a reflection of intention met with self-aware action. But you have to take steps to understand your circumstances before you can change them. That’s why this card has appeared for you. So that you can divine your life, excavate the gold and discard what holds no value. To determine what you’re holding that offers no support in return.

→Journey
The simplest message from this card is to trust the journey. To know that there are no shortcuts or quick answers. There’s no way to skip past the hard part or to make things easier than they’re supposed to be. You are where you are because that’s what you need. And perhaps you need to learn things the hard way. Perhaps you’re the kind of person that needs to be devastated before you can truly let go. Own that if that’s what it is. This card is a reminder that hardship is also a lesson. Hard won for sure but there are truths this lesson will offer you that will help you later on. The trick is stop avoiding them and be present for the good and the bad. To show up for your own life because you don’t get another one. This is what you have so make the most of it, even when shit feels hard and especially when things are going well. Life is a rollercoaster for you, for me, for everyone. Find the way to make the best out of the life you have and in doing so, you will find the life you’re supposed to have.

→ Elders
This card appears when you’re moving too fast. Not so much having too much on your plate but being in such a rush to get something done, be somewhere or find something out. Slow down. Your ambitions aren’t going anywhere, at least not the ones that are actually meant for you. Get there when you get there instead of trying to force your way to your desired outcome. Have you ever noticed how elders just seem to be settled? They aren’t in a rush or bothered by too much. Mostly because they are content with what they have. It may not be enough or what they wanted and yet, elders are always grateful. So that same sense of urgency doesn’t apply to them. There’s a lot the world can learn from its elders and that is the ultimate message of this card. To seek out wisdom. To slow down and play attention to those who have lived instead of just dismissing them. Youth doesn’t always mean better. Experience teaches you when you need to push and when you need to stay still. It teaches you when to fight and when to cut your losses. And sure you can learn all of that on your own or you can just take a little while to slow down and listen to someone who’s been where you are. Call your grandmother/ grandfather/ parents/ aunts/ uncles/ mentor or whoever today. Call them and just let them talk for a while. You might be surprised by how helpful it can be.

→ Crystals & Herbs
This card, at its root, is about reconnecting to the earth. About coming into relationship with the planet that supports us. To eat foods that nourish the body and to feel the vitality of the earth moving through you. To connect with the outdoors. To breathe in deep and let the fragrance of the air wash over you. To watch the clouds go by for more than a second. To experience the miracle that is living on planet earth. Think about that for a second. Trillions of micro and macro events had to happen to make it possible over billions of years for you to be here. And yet, humans move through life like our very existence is anything other than a completely improbable miracle. Let that clarity wash over you and spend time grounding yourself. Spend time remembering that you’re connected to something much bigger than just surviving the day. Experience your body in its fullness and enjoy the feeling of being human.
