There’s a lot of opportunity for growth in this week’s cards. So many cards point to choices. The choice to walk away with the Six of Swords or the choice to stay in there a bit longer with the Nine of Wands. The choice to be happy with the Sun or the choice embrace your potential with the Ace of Pentacles. My favorite card for this week is Reckoning, also known as Judgment. I’ve written this card specifically so that there isn’t some cosmic force, coming to offer you a divine purpose. It’s not the I don’t believe in spirit but, I think we’ve been trained to wait for some enormous sign rather than learning to trust in our own instincts. Not even our intuition, but to listen to that gut feeling, without needing to make it a ceremony first.
You are truly more powerful than you know and I don’t mean that as some spiritual cliche. I say it because I truly believe you know, deep down, what you want. We all know what we want but we’ve learned to be diminish ourselves instead of embrace ourselves. We discredit our desires before we have a chance to fully understand what they are. And we’re told there’s a purpose that will be given to us instead of being told, our purpose is whatever we choose.
I hope this week’s cards encourage you to be more proactive in your own destiny. To take control over what is meant to be yours instead of waiting for someone or something to hand it to you.

→ Six of Autumn Swords
Autumn is a liminal space. It marks a transition allowing us to at once release and to prepare for something new. The six of autumn swords also stand in the in-between. It represents the moment when you aren’t fully healed but you aren’t completely standing in the grief either. There’s an openness to this card. The potential for so much possibility. And yes, that means there’s a fair amount of uncertainty too. But what you can know for certain is that you’re no longer a fit in the space you came from. Maybe you've hurt yourself too many times by holding on too long, hoping things would change. Or you’re unable to fully heal while living in the midst of what continues to cause you pain. Perhaps you’ve hurt others too and no amount of apology will ease the suffering—for them or for you. There’s nothing to be done for what was but there’s hope to be had in knowing the future can be vastly different from the past. There’s a delicious sense of freedom in that alone. This departure isn’t meant to be loud. There’s no need for a dramatic declaration of intent. You are not required to seek validation, praise, permission or understanding. This departure isn’t for anyone else but you as a way to honor your own need for healing and peace.

→ Seven of Autumn Cups
The seven of autumn cups asks you: what are you afraid of committing to? The appearance of this card is your sign that time is running out to make a choice. You may call yourself contemplating, reflecting or processing when really you’re just procrastinating. Let this summons be an urgent call to examine what’s holding you back. Examine why potential and fantasy feel safer than solidifying a desire in reality. Perhaps you do want it all but deep down, something is pulling you more than others. Trust in where your heart is guiding you and remember something doesn’t need to be perfect to feel right. Above all know that not everything will wait for you and you may find yourself with a choice you didn’t actually want.

→ Nine of Autumn Wands
This card represents endurance. It appears when you’re tired, worn out, and ready to quit however, it also means you’re closer to completion than you realize. The additional layer of Autumn reframes this card as the exhaustion of thresholds: that heavy, liminal space where endings and beginnings overlap. You’re neither here nor there and holding both spaces is challenging your strength. Receiving this card is an acknowledgement of your fatigue but also affirms your resilience. You have weathered storms, defended your ground, and pushed through obstacles. Now, the threshold is before you—you’re almost there. Do not mistake tiredness for failure. Do not mistake frustration as a sign to quit. Perseverance at this point, when you most want to give up, is what carries you across the finish line.

→ Reckoning (judgment)
Unlike the traditional Judgment card, The Reckoning isn't about being judged by some higher, holier, power. This is about facing yourself: fully, honestly, and without fear. This is the moment when you take the masks off and the stories you’ve told yourself collapse. When every part of your being looks you directly in the eye and asks “Who do you want to be?” When we look at this card from that angle, we can see that there is no outside savior, waiting to show you your path. You are the witness of your story and the judge of how you’ve lived your life. When you gaze at your own reflection, what do you see? A life lived well or one that needs a change? When this card appears, it stands as a moment to reflect on how far you’ve come, for better or worse. To evaluate your accomplishments and then decide what comes next. In its most positive form, this card is about evolution and acknowledging that you’re ready for the next phase of your journey. Reflection then becomes a moment to praise past versions of yourself for getting you here but also a chance to say goodbye before shedding your current identity once again.

→Sunset (the Sun)
In Autumn, Sunset, also known as the Sun, takes on a different kind of happiness. This is earned joy. The kind that can only be found by facing the hardest moments of your life and still finding a way to thrive. Through the lens of autumn, this card represents fighting for your right to be ok. To embrace life despite the times you’ve wondered whether or not the universe truly had your back. Our maiden is not a babe like you would see in the traditional tarot. She isn’t naive or innocent. She’s weathered and tested making this return to happiness all the more sweet.
The appearance of this card is an immediate call to seek positivity and radiance in your life. To invest time and effort into the things which light you up. It can also mean times are really good or will be very soon. There’s no need to question the sudden shift in fortunes, especially not with Sunset as you have earned the right to be happy. This card can also represent true alignment, confidence and the ability to bet on yourself without fear of judgment or validation. You are truly in your element when this card appears. And all people or situations tied to this card have a warm light upon them as well.

→ Ace of Autumn Pentacles
Like all aces, the ace of autumn pentacles is a seed of potential. It’s an idea, a nascent feeling or an opportunity for advancement. It’s the promise of personal worth, still unproven and yet alive within you, waiting to be claimed. Throughout the suit of pentacles, the maiden will envision, gather, labor then fail, try again and master, each time growing her self-belief, her skills, and her capacity to receive. Not because she’s broken but because worth is something one learns to hold through consistent action.
The challenge is that this is only the beginning and her potential is not yet embodied. There’s still so much work to do for while she feels the promise of a greater destiny, she must show up for herself again and again. She must redefine her identity to match what she’s asking for. The ace of pentacles doesn’t offer a guarantee, it asks if you’re willing to become the kind of person who can hold the dreams you see for yourself.

→ The Autumn Empress
I love Persephone as the vessel for the Empress. A goddess who is in touch with her darkness just as much as her growth. She doesn’t sacrifice one for the other, rather, she nourishes each one in their respective seasons. Caring for each version of herself with equal thought and consideration. That’s what the Empress is about: caring. When this card appears, it's to invite you to consider how you can be a support system to both yourself and others. Does something need more attention than usual? Is there a way you have not gotten the nourishment you require to thrive? Autumn, perhaps more than any season, is one of self-care and receiving this card can indicate a need to make a bigger effort in tending to the various pieces of your life. This can mean traditional self-care in the form of rest and renewal. It can mean a need to nourish your community and to show up for those you love. It can mean setting boundaries, inviting more beauty into your life, or expressing yourself creativity. Take a moment now to reflect and think about what’s neglected for you at this time and how you can bring renewed life to this area. Autumn brings the additional layer of nourishing your shadows. Even the darker parts of your being need love and attention. Consider adding shadow work to your self-care or making time to explore your more taboo energies.
