The first week of December brings a powerful sequence of reckonings and remembrances. As we enter the final month of the year, this week's cards refuse to let us coast through on autopilot. From the chilling warning that opens our week to the demanding question about offerings that closes it, these seven cards map a journey through discomfort and back to truth.
This is not a week of gentle encouragement or surface-level inspiration. Instead, we're being asked to face what we've been avoiding, reconnect with what we've lost, and take honest inventory of what we're truly willing to give in pursuit of what we say we want. The cards this week serve as both mirror and medicine—reflecting back the ways we've disconnected from our inner knowing while offering a path back to alignment.

→ Chills
We start off December with a chilly warning. Don’t dismiss the red flags. Don’t ignore the gut feeling telling you something is amiss. You may not have the evidence to prove what you feel and when that is the case, your mind tries to convince you there’s nothing to worry about. That you’re making things up or reading into something that isn’t there. But there are plenty of dangers in the world that can’t be seen with the naked eye. You can’t see a cold when you catch it but you can feel it when your body feels off. Maybe you’re more tired than usual or your throat feels scratchy. You may not be able to “see” the end of your relationship but you can feel the distance, the snide remarks, and the lack of intimacy. You don’t need to “see” something to know when something feels off. So don’t dismiss what you’re sensing now. This card isn’t asking you to act on anything, at least not yet. Only to observe and to embrace what you’re feeling rather than trying to rationalize it away.

→ Remembering
Remembering appears for you when your soul has been soured by life. When responsibilities weigh too heavy, when fears twist your gut and when the harsh realities of being an adult disconnect you from your sense of wonder, ease and play. We all experience it: a loss of our inner child. We forget what it means to simply exist in an effort to survive the day. We replace laughter with anxiety, often leading to sadness and tears. We exchange imagination and whimsy for practicality in the name of being a grown up. This card’s sole purpose is to address the lies we’ve been made to believe. The lie that to be an adult means you have to forget being happy. Growing up isn’t the end of your ability to have fun. Perhaps you cannot do so as freely as you did in younger years but you still have the right to realign yourself with that child within. Take today to do something fun or silly or anything that makes you feel carefree. Your soul needs this medicine today, so much more than you realize.

→ Storm
Storm is not a pleasant card and I’m sorry for that. It is a harsh reckoning of facing a situation that has gotten beyond your control. Something is breaking down today. It might be the beginning of the end of something, a total loss of something else or the destruction of your identity until this point. It might feel catastrophic and you have the right to feel whatever feelings come up for you. But know this, there is a light at the end of this tunnel. It won’t be today or tomorrow but there is something good coming out of this situation. Your job until that moment arrives is to roll with what you got. Don’t try to change or force the outcome. Don’t fight in a battle you’ve already lost. Allow yourself to let go as gracefully as you can. I know, that’s easier said than done but it's the only way to reduce the pain you might feel. Because this card only represents one day, it's very possible that it will manifest as a hard day. One you'll be happy to move past but just one day all the same. It will be over before you know it as long as you don't try to force an outcome that isn’t possible anyway.

→ Self-Care
I was quite literary when I wrote this deck I’m afraid and this card is about as literal as you can imagine: focus on self-care. But it's more than baths and candles. It's more than rest and relaxation. Self-care is often romanticized in an effort to get you to buy pretty things and don’t get me wrong, pretty things have their value. I truly believe aesthetics contribute to peace of mind, a supportive environment and self-care too. But true self-care is often found in the things we don’t really want to do. The bills that get paid on time so that our minds aren’t littered with stress. Or the tasks that get done like washing your clothes or maintaining your car so that your possessions are taken care of and will take care of you. It’s also connecting with other people. Showing up. Being present. So that when you need someone to support you, it won’t be a question. You were there for them and you better believe, they’re waiting to return the favor. So instead of assuming self-care means sleep an extra hour, take a moment to close your eyes and ask yourself: what will give me the most peace of mind or feeling of support right now? That’s the self-care that’s needed today.

→Dove Medicine
Who do you need to forgive? That’s what dove asks of you. And before you answer that question, know that forgiveness is not the same thing as excusing a behavior. Forgiveness doesn’t erase the hardships or traumas dropped in your lap by someone else’s bullshit. It doesn’t change your past and it probably won’t change the person you’re forgiving. But it does change you. It allows you to let go of what you can’t change. It gives you the freedom to move on without carrying this weight behind you. Because the truth is that your anger isn’t hurting anyone but yourself. The person that anger or sadness or pain is directed towards probably doesn’t even know you’re angry and if they do, they probably don’t care. At least not in the way you want them to. All being angry does is keep you stuck, giving your power away to someone who doesn’t deserve it. Think of the person who hurt you like a power cord. They’re plugged into your outlet, taking your energy, your power. Forgiveness means unplugging that cord; cutting off their ability to steal your energy. So I’ll ask you again: who do you need to forgive? And when the answer comes to you, do yourself a favor and pull that plug.

→ Star
You have an inner north star in the form of your intuition. It always knows what to do in every situation. It knows how to behave, it knows how to manage situations, it knows when something is wrong and it knows when something is right. It doesn’t feel like you have this level of knowing because your inner star is covered up by layers and layers of living. All of the times you were told to be realistic, to stop being dramatic, to calm down, to be more practical, all the times you made a mistake, all of those things you’ve been told added a layer, obscuring your inner knowing from you. So now, it's really hard to connect with your star. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t there. It is unrealistic to believe you can go from having no connection at all to being perfectly attuned overnight. There is no one singular ritual or journal prompt or candle or crystal that will remove years of calcified layers in one go. But you can work towards connecting to your north star. Every time you make an effort to listen to your inner voice, you chip away at a new layer. And with time, you’ll be able to access your star without strain or struggle. Will you start today? The sooner you begin, the sooner you’ll have your light in the darkness to guide your way.

→ Offerings
Too often we expect the world for very little in return. We want to become a millionaire by winning the lottery or to find love without actually having to be vulnerable. We want to get that dream job without bothering to apply or to stumble upon our greatness and succeed without having to actually practice being great. This card brings this desire to light and reminds you that there are no miracles to be had. You don’t get something for nothing. What do you have to offer your goals? Is it time, resources, your commitment to finishing things? Do you need to learn a new skill or unlearn an old one? Do you need to sacrifice one thing for the pursuit of another? This card invites you to get real serious about your dreams and to look at what’s required to achieve them. But also to honestly answer whether or not you’re actually willing to pay the cost. Because the truth is that very few people are willing. They aren’t lacking talent or opportunity, not really. Talent can be learned and opportunity can be acquired. Resources can be figured out and time can be managed. So it’s not those things. Most people are lacking the desire to offer what it actually requires to get what they want.
